EARTHCARE / FRIENDS OF ELSTER CREEK WORKING BEE 28th MAY, 3-5PM
ELWOOD COASTAL TEATREE RESERVE,
(Between Point Ormond Road and Ormond Esplanade, just South of where Glenhuntly Rd intersects with Ormond Esplanade)
Meeting place at Pt Ormond BBQ area
This area of coastal teatree scrub provides crucial habitat for a wide variety of native birds. Careful management of these sites will enable these areas to sustain these bird populations into the future. One plant species, Rhagodia has become dominant in these areas. Earthcare is currently working with council to clear patches of Rhagodia. We are doing this in order to prepare for future planting of local native plants and to improve the habitat values of these sites, without damaging sensitive breeding areas.
Please come and join us for couple of hours, BYO gloves if you can, to care for this area and the birdlife it supports.
(We will be working within the coastal scrub area-if you can’t find us-please call 0423 053 494 and we will come and find you).
