St Kilda Breakwater Clean Up

Breakwater Clean Up DayEvery month we hold a clean up of the St Kilda Breakwater to remove harmful litter from the Little Penguin colony. Notice of each clean up is given on this website’s Events page, Earthcare St Kilda on Facebook and to members via email.

We meet on the boardwalk in the publicly accessible part of the breakwater. You are asked to bring gloves, dress for the forecast weather, bring water and wear sensible footwear.

Every year Australia wide, hundreds of thousands of Australians get stuck in and Clean Up their local environment by collecting and removing rubbish. Clean Up Australia inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.

Clean up Australia Day 2017
Sunday 5th March

Bags and litter pickers will be provided. Please bring your own gloves and come prepared for the forecast weather conditions. All children must be supervised by an adult.

2015

25 volunteers turned up to Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2 March 2014 at the Marina end of St Kilda Beach and collected 64kg of rubbish.

2014

38 volunteers turned up to Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2 March 2014 at the Marina end of St Kilda Beach and collected 128kg of rubbish.

2013

63 volunteers turned up to Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 3 March 2013 on St Kilda West Beach and collected 210kg of rubbish.

What else you can do…

If you have caught the litter collecting bug and can’t wait until the next organised litter removal event then there is nothing stopping you picking up any litter you see on the beach (or anywhere) whenever you visit or you can check out one of the local Beach Patrols
